Alex and Liz Kofsky
In the beginning there was a haircut, hike and two hearts. Liz cut Alex’s hair just once and he was hooked. The hair style was on point, don’t get it wrong, but the spark of love drove Alex back for more haircuts in the next month than any young adult could afford. The haircuts led to conversation, conversation led to a date – a hike in the woods with their beloved hound Hudson. It’s been an adventure ever since; with trips to Thailand, Croatia, Italy and out West. Also, local explorers, they’ve traversed every corner of the Upper Peninsula, seeking out new remote areas to unleash their growing family of two hounds. Their biggest adventure of all though, is parenthood. The Kofskys welcomed their son Alexander “River” Kofsky Jr. two short years ago. The three have kept up their marauding escapades; traveling through our U.P. woods, overseas to London and through the mountains of Utah since River was born.
Alex Kofsky is a dedicated business coach for Accelerate UP, working with over 500 businesses throughout the Upper Peninsula. He is actively involved with the Community Foundation of Marquette County Board, North Country Trail Hikers, UPCDC and RPI; as well as many hours spent with local non-profits in need. Another area of passion is the Steinhaus Restaurant, where he is one of the founding partners.
Liz Kofksy has been a full-time hairstylist/makeup artist for almost 10 years but has been working part time at PrimRose salon since River was born. She loves having a career where she can be creative and make clients look and feel their best. Now, most of her days are spent potty training and finding creative ways to get her toddler to eat vegetables.
“Life is a journey and we’re lucky to live it. We try to remember as a family, to live today for those that came before us. Our family members (alive and passed) are (were) driven individuals. They inspire us to live while we still can. That’s why we feel so strongly about hospice. Hospice does just that, helps people LIVE while they still can.”
