Kali Berry and Wayne Johnson
Kali Berry and Wayne Johnson are native Yoopers from Marquette and Negaunee, respectively. They met at a 40 Below Young Professionals outing in 2011, were married in 2015 and had their daughter and light of their lives, Wyatt Azalea, in September 2017.
Kali works as a Human Resources (HR) Leader for the Target Corporation, where she is responsible for staffing, scheduling, training, talent management, community outreach and all-things team at the Marquette store. She has traveled to Calgary, Alberta to assist in HR operations, and spent 2015-2016 working for Target stores in Lower Michigan. Prior to Target, Kali worked as the Community Development Coordinator for Lake Superior Community Partnership, where she helped connect community organizations with resources, and participated in groups to benefit economic development in Marquette County.
Wayne works for Norlite Nursing Center as its Administrator. He has been a licensed Administrator for 11 years and is responsible for the betterment of the resident and teammate experience at the the facility. In 2014, Wayne was selected as an American Health Care Association Future Leader, where he traveled to Washington, D.C. for special training and recognition. He also spent 2014-2016 working in multiple skilled nursing facilities in Lower Michigan, including overseeing the construction, purchasing, hiring and grand opening for Regency at Lansing West.
While Kali was first a Spartan, graduating from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2007, she and Wayne are both Wildcats, as they each hold Master’s degrees from Northern Michigan University. Kali earned her Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) in 2010 and Wayne earned his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in 2012.
Kali and Wayne love to camp, attend music and sporting events, snowboard, travel and spend time with their friends and family, playing games, laughing and cooking. Their parents, Jan Sabin and Dave Berry (Kali) and Susan and Lee Johnson (Wayne) are incredibly proud of their spirit and are excited to watch their experience.
Kali and Wayne are ecstatic for the opportunity to join the DWOS community and are determined to give it their all to benefit hospice!
