She’s back for round three – introducing Mariel Morton, this time as a pro!
A lifelong Ishpeming resident, Mariel wears many hats at the Mather, where she works as a mixologist, waitress, and bartender. Outside of work, she also spends time substitute teaching in local schools.
Mariel’s passion for dance began early with ballet and tap classes and continues throughout her years on the Ishpeming High School dance team. After graduation, she stayed connected to dance by coaching the high school team and taking classes at Northern Michigan University. In 2024, she and her beloved dance partner, Johnny Cappoferri, were invited to compete in Dancing With Our Stars. After taking home the win, the pair returned for the All-Stars 10-year reunion performance.
Today, Mariel continues to fuel her love of dance through weekly classes at New Attitudes Dance Studio and is thrilled to be part of this season’s Dancing With Our Stars – this time on the professional side of the ballroom!
Hospice holds a special place in Mariel’s heart, as several of her family members have received care through the organization. This year, she is especially excited for the fundraising events, the opportunity to choreograph alongside her team, and the chance to meet the incredible people who make this event so meaningful. Most of all, she’s grateful for another opportunity to keep doing what she loves most: dance!
