Hellloooo Johnny Cappoferri and Mariel Morton! These two are our very own dynamic duo representing the west end this Dancing with our Stars season! Mare and J Capp both bartend down at the one and only Congress Pizzas in Ishpeming and are so excited for this new challenge.
Formerly known from his work at the JT Shaft, John has now been at the Congo for almost thirteen years! He is best known for his specialty drinks (such as the CM Spiceberry or his margaritas) and witty jokes (although, air with caution, these are only sometimes family friendly)!
Mariel has been with the Congress Crew for just over three years now and also works at Hartman High, teaching English and Art. On top of teaching, she is currently working on her master’s degree and runs a photo business on the side!
The two took on this opportunity as they are both infinitely grateful for their past experiences with Hospice care. They believe any work to raise money for a case such as hospice is a good one to participate in! Their plan for the competition is to shimmy and shake to first place!

BUT folks, brace yourselves, because while their hearts may be big, their dance experience is not quite the same size! Mariel studied dance at Northern Michigan University for three years, while John is infamous for coming up with new moves on the fly; particularly behind the bar. However, a lack of experience does not scare either of them! They are prepared to take on whatever DWOS has in store. With an appreciation for movement, Mariel is hoping for a contemporary or jazz number, but Johnny is just waiting to show off his favorite Thanksgiving move, “pour the gravy.”
Once again, they are so excited to be a part of this year’s DWOS crew. The only request they have is: don’t tell John to ‘break a leg,’ he’s 72 and worried he might!
